How to Clean When You Don’t Have Time

Trying to keep your home clean when your schedule is super busy can be difficult and often feel impossible.

You get up, go to work, and come home trying to get everything done before you get up and do it again the next day – it can feel overwhelming.

This week, we’ll be sharing some tips and tricks to help you keep your home clean when you don’t have the time.

1. Let Go of Perfection

No one is perfect. Let me repeat, NO ONE is perfect, and your home doesn’t need to be either.

It can be hard to let go of having your home look perfect, but it’s not more important than your health and well-being.

If you need to put off folding the towels till tomorrow or leave the dishes till the morning because you didn’t sleep well, that’s okay.

2. Choose One Thing That Needs to Be Done Right Now

Rather than feeling as though you need to work on everything right that second, find one area or thing that you can work on for the day.

You can choose to fold laundry, do the dishes, clean your room, pick up the kitchen, etc., and focus solely on that one thing for the day.

By doing this, you’ll feel more accomplished for the day, knowing you got something done successfully.

3. Set A Timer

When you get home, or you find yourself having fifteen free minutes, set a timer and see how much you can complete in that time.

It’s often amazing how much you can get done in such a short amount of time.

If you notice that you get distracted with setting a timer on your phone, try setting the timer on your stove or microwave so that there’s no temptation to check Facebook or Instagram one more time before cleaning.

4. Be Careful When Multitasking

Sometimes it can feel as though you’re accomplishing more when you multitask, but that’s not always the case.

When you’re trying to focus on too much at once, it can take you longer to figure out what to do next, and you can even get distracted.

We recommend that if you’re in the middle of cleaning your room, or doing a load of laundry, for example, that you continue doing that one job.

Rather than trying to clean your room, fold laundry, cook dinner, do the dishes, etc. Stay with one chore until it’s finished.
